Safeguarding Adults and DoLS Service Manager

Job Introduction

We’re looking for a highly motivated person to lead our safeguarding adults and deprivation of liberty safeguards (DoLS) teams.

You’ll make sure our services are efficient and effective, with all safeguarding matters addressed proportionately and timely, with a focus on the person.

You’ll have a good knowledge of safeguarding adults and associated legalities and will be able to lead and support two experienced teams as well as providing advice and guidance to wider adult social care colleagues.

You will need to be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England, have experience in managing teams, and be willing to have an enhanced DBS check.

While the role is office based, there is flexibility around home working for up to two days a week. A Golden Hello is available to the successful candidate.

Main Responsibility

  • Provide professional guidance and leadership to ensure effective and proportionate responses to safeguarding concerns and oversee the DoLS function.
  • Chair safeguarding meetings particularly where the individual and organisational risks are high.
  • Co-ordinate the safeguarding forum – ensuring that making safeguarding personal is central to all safeguarding activity and that staff are appropriately supported to complete enquiries.
  • Support the Head of Service to ensure the City Council meets its statutory and legal requirements, review, develop and evaluate policies and procedures.
  • Support colleagues, working collaboratively with them to drive improvement.

The Ideal Candidate

  • You will be the lead professional with responsibility for safeguarding adults; in addition, you will be responsible for the administration and implementation of the DoLS, and the soon to be implemented Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).
  • Registered social worker and an experienced manager in adult social work services, with an in-depth and broad knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory functions and national guidance that pertain to adults, particularly safeguarding and mental capacity.
  • Experience of managing complex safeguarding arrangements, as well as experience of multidisciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • You will have experience and knowledge of the statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, specifically in relation to Safeguarding and DoLS.
