Job Introduction
We’re looking for a confident and enthusiastic officer to join our Housing Solutions Team, supporting survivors of Domestic Abuse who are in temporary accommodation and providing assistance to sustain their licence agreement.
You’ll play an integral role within the team by supporting residents in temporary accommodation and taking a holistic approach to empower residents to maintain their licences.
We work closely with partner agencies including MKACT and work collaboratively with residents, taking multiagency approach to support needs, complex risk assessment and wrap around support plans.
Milton Keynes City Council has developed a fresh approach to tackling homelessness and supporting those approaching due to domestic abuse.
You’ll ideally have experience working with survivors of domestic abuse and have the skills to manage a complex case load.
This is a site based role with daily visits out in the community.
Main Responsibility
- Multiagency working with stakeholders including MKACT, Housing, Social care and other community programmes to deliver client-centred support.
- Detailed record keeping and data entry on Northgate Housing Systems.
- Supporting residents to understand their rights and legal obligations in temporary accommodation.
- Completing risk assessment assessments and support plans for survivors of Domestic Abuse occupying temporary accommodation.
- Providing clients with practical support, helping them to manage licenses, and helping with access to work, volunteering, and education opportunities.
- Sign posting residents to relevant support agencies/ safeguarding.
- Supporting the Temporary Accommodation Team with temporary accommodation bookings, benefit claims and occupancy checks.
- Supporting Domestic Abuse Housing Solutions Officers with case management and support need assessments.
The Ideal Candidate
- You will need to have strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with colleagues, other departments and statutory and voluntary agencies to provide an effective service for survivors of Domestic Abuse occupying temporary accommodation, many of whom have multiple vulnerabilities and support needs.
- You will be organised, flexible and able to manage a caseload. You must be committed to and have a clear understanding of the need for prompt intervention in a range of household problems that have the potential to cause a housing crisis.
- This is a very demanding role; the successful candidate will need to be resilient and self-motivated.
- Experience of working with survivors of Domestic Abuse.
- You'll ideally have experience in Housing/Social Work/Welfare & Benefits.
- You'll work out and about in the community so you'll ideally have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
