Job Introduction
We’re seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable professional to co-ordinate and lead on educational packages for children and young people (CYP) with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who are new to Milton Keynes.
You’ll lead on placing the children and young people in appropriate settings in a timely manner.

Main Responsibility
- Working in close partnership with the Education Provision Lead (Senior Teacher), you will ensure that bespoke educational packages are designed and delivered with a strong focus on value for money and the sustainability of the High Needs Block.
- This role involves direct work with CYP as part of your caseload, supporting their transition into appropriate educational settings. You will provide expert advice to staff during the transition process for CYP with or without EHCPs, ensuring placements are timely and compliant with statutory requirements.
- You will be responsible for maintaining high-quality records, including caseload and financial tracking, and for analysing and reporting data to the EHC Education Delivery Manager through monthly KPIs and highlight reports. Your work will contribute to the continuous improvement of the SEND Local Area, in alignment with our SEND Strategy and through active participation in the SEND Partnership.
- Collaboration with the Admissions Team is essential to ensure timely placement of CYP receiving SEND support, with clear and effective communication with families and mainstream settings. You will also uphold safeguarding procedures and monitor attendance for CYP on educational packages.
- The role requires the ability to offer informed and considered advice, including participation in mediation, tribunals (in support of the Tribunal Lead), and complaint resolution.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience and qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in education, local government, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of current SEND principles, procedures, and legislation (including the SEN Code of Practice and Disability Discrimination Act).
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- SEND expertise
- Extensive experience with Educational, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), especially regarding new-to-area processes and legal frameworks.
- Ability to uphold local authority decisions, even in challenging stakeholder discussions.

- Flexible and calm under pressure, able to manage difficult conversations professionally.
- Adaptable to the evolving SEND landscape and organisational needs.
- Team and leadership
- Strong team player with willingness to support and line manage colleagues.

- Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of producing high-quality EHCPs.
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, AI tools, and Capita ONE.
- Compliance and mobility
- Must pass an Enhanced DBS check (unless registered with the Update Service).
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car with business insurance required for travel across and beyond Milton Keynes.
- Driving licence and vehicle insurance with business insurance
- For this role, the candidate is required to have a full UK driving licence, along with access to a vehicle.
- Evidence of the driving licence and vehicle insurance with business insurance will be required from the candidate should they be offered this position. Without this documentation the candidate will not be appointable.
- DBS Enhanced
- Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
