Job Introduction

The Milton Keynes School Improvement Service are looking for a skilled and motivated Improvement Partner to join their friendly and well-respected team. You’ll care about positive collaboration and exploring change.

The team works as part of the wider Education Outcomes service and are committed to ensuring that the quality of education provision across Milton Keynes supports children and young people to achieve the very best outcomes.

This post is offered on a fixed term basis from September 2025 (sooner if possible) until March 2026 in the first instance.

This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment.

The closing date for this role is 12pm on Thursday 1 May 2025.

Main Responsibility

  • Challenging schools, settings, and services to be the very best, enabling them to take the lead in driving up standards and only intervening when outcomes are not good enough or where schools and settings are unable to help each other improve.
  • Developing, delivering, and maintaining effective services and interventions that enable children and young people who face barriers to successfully overcome them; and preventing the most vulnerable children and young people from experiencing additional difficulties: preventing them from suffering significant harm.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with all partners that support strong local partnerships.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory duties.
  • Ensuring high standards of professional conduct. 
  • Keeping abreast of current education legislation and initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re seeking applicants who are flexible and self-motivated: ones that can work collaboratively with a range of schools, settings and agencies to influence meaningful, positive, and sustainable change.

 We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • A relevant professional qualification at Level 6 (degree) or above (Framework for Higher Education Qualifications).
  • Substantial and successful experience as a senior leader in schools.
  • Experience of school improvement
  • An ability to meet the essential requirements specified.

For this role, the candidate is required to have a full UK driving licence, along with access to a vehicle. Evidence of the driving licence and vehicle insurance with business insurance will be required from the candidate should they be offered this position. Without this documentation the candidate will not be appointable.

Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
