Job Introduction
We're seeking a committed and highly motivated Careers, Information Advice and Guidance professional to join our dedicated, experienced and friendly team who provide impartial careers advice and guidance to young people across Milton Keynes.
The work targets those who are not in education, employment or training and need support to move forward and progress. Our aim is to help them identify and overcome barriers, make decisions about their future and reach their full potential. With support, we help them transition into education, training, jobs, study programmes and apprenticeships.

There two vacancies for this role - one is full time (37 hours) and one is part time (up to 22.2 hours). Please indicate on your supporting statement which role you are applying for.
This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment.

Main Responsibility
- Work across Milton Keynes in various settings and virtually, delivering impartial careers information advice and guidance to assist young people to make informed decisions about their education, training and employment pathways.
- Manage a caseload of young people delivering high quality interventions to help them explore their interests and skills, identify career options and develop realistic plans to achieve their goals.
- Support young people to recognise and overcome barriers to education, training and employment such as a lack of qualifications, skills gaps or personal and health challenges.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues and partners both internally and externally to achieve the best progression outcomes and opportunities for young people.
- Support young people with applications, CVs, interview techniques and developing employability skills.
- Monitor and track young people's engagement in education, employment or training identifying those who are not participating in order to offer support to re-engage.
- Accurate recording of data including interventions and referrals to ensure all statutory returns are completed to a high level and performance targets are achieved.
- Work closely with schools and colleges, training providers and internal teams to identify young people at risk of not progressing into employment education or training and offering timely interventions to prevent them from disengaging.
The Ideal Candidate
- Professionally qualified to a minimum of level 4 in CIAG and have experience of working effectively with vulnerable young people who have multiple barriers.
- The ability to communicate at a high level both orally and in writing with young people and their families.
- Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of the local labour market and the opportunities available for young people.
- A confident individual able to build strong networks and collaborate effectively and respectfully with a range of professionals and organisations.
- Able to multitask and work flexibly both independently and as part of a team.
- Have excellent ICT and administration skills to ensure delivery is recorded accurately.
For this role, the candidate is required to have a full UK driving licence, along with access to a vehicle. Evidence of the driving licence and vehicle insurance with business insurance will be required from the candidate should they be offered this position. Without this documentation the candidate will not be appointable.
Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
