Housing Repairs & Maintenance Lead

Job Introduction

A highly visible leadership role looking after responsive repairs in our 11,000+ council homes.

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we re-procure our repairs service.  You’ll work alongside our current contractor and also shape our future services and how they are delivered.

You’ll quickly become part of an agile team and work closely with our Compliance Lead, our Capital Works Lead and other colleagues while line managing your own team of supervisors and surveyors. This role reports into the Assistant Director for Housing Maintenance, Investment and Corporate Health & Safety.

Main Responsibility

  • Defining and managing the processes with our contractors to ensure repairs are done where needed and to standard and time and within budget
  • Managing voids, repairs and some planned works
  • Responsible for managing and reporting on your budget and your team and contractors performance
  • Working collaboratively across wider teams, including neighbourhoods, customer services, home ownership and building control
  • Ensuring the data on work done and the performance indicators is up to date, accurate, transparent and used to influence how things are done and flag pressures.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be educated to a degree level in a relevant discipline and also have significant relevant experience in delivering repairs and maintenance works with contractors in social housing properties

The successful candidate will be adept at building positive professional relationships across teams, you will be more than capable of focusing in on the issue and getting things done to resolve issues. As a housing professional, your knowledge is kept up to date and you know what changes have happened and what is coming up for the social housing sector.

Your experience means you are more than capable of making sure your services are delivered to meet standards and that this is anticipated and addressed.

Supporting and managing your team is your priority. So they have clear processes, work professionally with others and always know how well they are performing as a team

For this role you are required to have a Full UK Driving Licence and provide evidence of your Vehicle Insurance with Business cover and use of a vehicle . If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your Licence prior to starting the role

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
