Family Time Worker

Job Introduction

A rewarding opportunity to work with families in a creative and child-centred way.

As a Family Time Worker, you’ll observe and supervise children having family time with their families. These can be difficult and emotionally challenging situations.

You’ll have a good understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding and be able to record and write clear observational reports on the family time sessions in an effective, impartial and child centred manner.

The role is full time within the working week, with opportunities to work additional hours on weekends.

Interviews will take place on 3 October 2024

Main Responsibility

  • Meeting and Greeting families and carers following pre-agreed protocols.
  • Observations, support and safeguarding of Family Time Sessions between children and their families.
  • Writing reports that form wider assessments and court evidence.
  • Liaise with other professionals and departments.
  • Other administrative tasks as required.
  • Ensuring the resources within the centres are fit for purpose.

The Ideal Candidate

  • You will need a full UK clean current driving licence and access to a car as the post will involve some travel throughout Milton Keynes to other venues and community sessions, you will be required to provide evidence of your vehicle insurance with business use.
  • IT skills – able to navigate the various systems.
  • Child-care/working with families experience.
  • Good understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding.
  • Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).
  • Ability to work as an individual and as a team.
  • A high level of English verbal and written communication skills essential.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
