We are looking for passionate and professional Support Workers to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to support the service users in delivering high quality support which meets the needs of service users, ensuring positive relationships with families and carers in an environment that is welcoming, supportive and inclusive.

We support people who are vulnerable and may have issues re substance misuse and sometimes complex behaviours and their tenancy maybe at risk. The role can be challenging, fun and active and two days are never the same. As a service we are interested in getting to know you as a person and we want to understand your values and behaviours and what’s important to you in terms of the way in which you work with others.

Main Responsibility

  • Provide a customer-focussed and efficient service to the community, supporting them to achieve positive care and support outcomes.
  • Maintain an empathic and adaptable style through a person-centred approach to those with multiple complex needs.
  • To follow Support Plans written by Social Workers and Social Work Assistance that focus on Care Act Outcomes such as Accessing and engaging in work, training, education or volunteering, developing and maintaining family or other personal relationships and maintaining a habitable home environment.
  • Provide practical support to your Community Support Team colleagues to achieve identified outcomes through a support plan. (This may include supporting with service users housing needs, state benefit applications, support to access food banks, support with accessing Local Welfare Provision and other tasks relating to short- terms needs of service users.)
  • To maintain an active caseload of vulnerable service users either independently or with support of social workers or social work assistance in the team.  

Within reason these key deliverables may evolve to meet service need and it is expected that you will be flexible and adaptable in your delivery to meet both service and council wide needs.

  • Passion for working with Adults with Support Needs.
  • Great Team Player.
  • Flexible approach.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Ability to respond effectively to changeable or challenging situations, remaining calm and measured in approach to challenge.
  • Ability on occasions to work in unsanitary conditions.
  • Ideally, experience of working in the community with vulnerable adults.
