Senior Sustainability Officer

Job Introduction

Sustainability, Environmental Management and Monitoring is a growth area within the council. We are looking for a Senior Sustainability Officer to help us achieve becoming a zero-carbon city. Working within our sustainability team, you will have an interest in the environment, work with colleagues from across the Council and use your initiative to look for opportunities to further the Council's Sustainability agenda. 

The sustainability team has contact with all areas of the council’s activities, from design led projects, sustainability policy monitoring, energy contract management to issuing formal Energy Performance Certificates for council properties. Training and personal development opportunities will be supported. 

Main Responsibility

  • The role requires the ability to work on your own initiative and motivation without full supervision.
  • Managing budgets and applying for additional funding.
  • In the course of their duties, the post holder will be required to travel within Milton Keynes and further afield to attend seminars and meetings.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Due to the variety of topics encompassed by sustainability, good communication skills and an ability to use IT in general is important.
  • Be able to write clear written reports for a variety of audiences, internal and external. 
  • Experience of any energy and emissions monitoring systems would be useful, but training on our software is available.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a related subject
