SEND Coproduction, Communication and Partnerships Officer

Job Introduction

We’re seeking someone with experience in working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to join our team.

This is a rewarding role where you’ll help shape services for children and young people with SEND, ensuring their voices are heard and their aspirations championed.

You’ll facilitate workshops and training sessions with partners and stakeholders, build strong relationships with local organisations and support events.

This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home-based roles require a minimum of one day in the office/site per week.

Main Responsibility

  • Lead on the ongoing development of the Local Offer, analysing complex information and presenting data to drive improvements.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions with partners and stakeholders.
  • Build strong partnerships with local organisations, supporting events and commissioning activities such as Short Breaks.
  • Champion youth participation in line with the SEND strategy, raising the profile of young people’s voices.
  • Manage and deliver the SEND Newsletter for parents, carers and schools.
  • Use council IT systems and web platforms to keep families informed.
  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and legal frameworks.
  • Support budget monitoring and management activities.
  • Attend events and schools to promote the Local Offer and engage with families.
  • Contribute to quality assurance activities across the SEND landscape.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Professional qualification (BTEC, NVQ Level 3 in childhood development) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEND and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent ICT skills, including MS Teams, Word, PowerPoint and social media.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead groups and meetings.
  • A flexible, resilient approach to problem-solving and managing challenging situations.
  • Ability to produce user-friendly materials and lead multi-agency meetings confidently.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If you’re offered the position, we’ll ask for proof of your licence and vehicle insurance, including business use cover. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to confirm your appointment without these documents.

If you’re offered the role, we’ll arrange an Enhanced DBS check as part of our pre-employment process (unless you’re already registered with the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
