Personal Education (PEP) Quality and Compliance Officer - Fixed term for 12 Months

Job Introduction

 We’re recruiting a Personal Education (PEP) Quality and Compliance Officer to join our Education, Learning and Inclusion service. 

You’ll help us make sure children looked after receive the right support for their education by ensuring all Personal Education Plan processes are completed properly and on time.

You’ll work closely with our Virtual School team, schools and social workers to make sure our young people get the best possible educational outcomes. 

This role is rewarding, meaningful and ideal for someone who enjoys improving processes, working with detail and helping colleagues understand what good practice looks like.

We're working towards to a May/June start date rather than a teachers contract September start

This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home-based roles require minimum of one day in the office/site per week.

Interviews for this role will be held on 13 April.

Main Responsibility

  • Making sure all Personal Education Plans for children looked after are completed in line with guidance, legislation and agreed timeframes.
  • Helping schools and education settings understand their responsibilities so they stay compliant.
  • Reviewing systems and procedures to keep them up to date with changes in policy and legislation.
  • Checking that publications, online information and guidance meet legal and corporate standards.
  • Leading updates to our recording systems so information is accurate and shared appropriately.
  • Making sure education funding for children looked after is used well and benefits the child.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Educated to level three or have experience that shows you can work at this level.
  • Understand how schools are organised and how education systems work.
  • Ability to plan your work well, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to explain detailed or technical information in a simple, clear way.
  • Can work on your own initiative and make sound decisions.
  • Enjoy working with a wide range of colleagues and building positive relationships.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If you’re offered the position, we’ll ask for proof of your licence and vehicle insurance, including business use cover. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to confirm your appointment without these documents.

If you’re offered the role, we’ll arrange an Enhanced DBS check as part of our pre-employment process (unless you’re already registered with the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
