Job Introduction
We’re seeking a Permit Coordinator to join our busy team within the Highways Service, managing licences and permits for works on the adopted highway.
This is an interesting role where no two days are the same. You’ll coordinate utility and highway works and manage the finances of the scheme.
The team is based out of our Bleak Hall offices and the impact we have on the road network is Milton Keynes wide.
You should have a good knowledge of the street works industry, but training can be provided on the finance for permit schemes.
Interview for this role will be held on 23 January.
Main Responsibility
- Coordinate street work permits, including looking at diversion routes, traffic management and ensuring they meet the legislation.
- Undertake the billing for the permit scheme, including permit fees, S74s and FPNs.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure that network issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
- Deputise for the street works manager and other members of the team as and when necessary.
The Ideal Candidate
- Ability to make decisions based on multiple sources, meet deadlines and understand the permit scheme and how the road network operates.
- An understanding of the technical aspects of the scheme, including S74s, FPNs and defects is necessary to undertake the charging process and some experience of finance would be beneficial.
- A good knowledge of software systems, including Street manager and AMX would be preferable but training can be given.
- Able to prioritise workloads and work on your own if necessary.
- For this role, the candidate is required to have a full UK driving licence, along with access to a vehicle. Evidence of the driving licence and vehicle insurance with business insurance will be required from the candidate should they be offered this position. Without this documentation the candidate will not be appointable.
