Healthy Relationship Programme Assistant Coordinator - Fixed Term for 12 months

Job Introduction

We’re recruiting a Healthy Relationship Programme Coordination Assistant maternity cover to join our Children’s Services team. 

You’ll help us support children, young people and families across Milton Keynes by being a key part of our Healthy Relationship Programme. 

We’re a friendly, dedicated and collaborative team, and your work will make a real difference to people who need early help and safe guidance. 

This is largely an administrative role where You’ll be the first point of contact via telephone or email contact for families who are referred to the programme, you will be helping them feel comfortable, listened to and supported. 

You’ll play an important part in coordinating assessments, training sessions and communication across the service. 

This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys helping people, can work sensitively with families and is confident building professional relationships.


This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home-based roles require a minimum of one day in the office/site per week.

Main Responsibility

  • Be the first point of contact via telephone or email contact for people referred to the Healthy Relationship Programme, as well as the referrer, with the purpose of arranging allocation/ offer onto a relevant programme / intervention. Manage the Healthy Relationships inboxes with both referrals and enquiries. Process and record referral data onto our system tracker.
  • Work alongside the programme coordinator and wider team to triage referrals and agree the right support for each family, including communication with colleagues such as social workers and family centres. 
  • Co-ordinate programme activity, including scheduling, room bookings, preparing materials, communicating with service users and referrers supporting the upkeep of programme registers. 
  • Order and maintain resources within budget, including refreshments and course materials.
  • Administrative tasks that support the programme and the wider Early Help team.


The Ideal Candidate

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to keep accurate records and manage communication with a range of colleagues and partners.
  • Confidence using financial and administrative systems, including processing purchase orders, invoices and referral data. 
  • Someone who can quickly assess safeguarding concerns, take appropriate action and share information accurately and responsibly.  
  • Someone who listens well, stays calm and responds sensitively and supportively during challenging or unexpected situations.  
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to work with processing sensitive and emotive information around families that are experiencing trauma, harm or distress
  • To be successful in this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If you’re offered the position, we’ll ask for proof of your licence and vehicle insurance, including business use cover. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to confirm your appointment without these documents.
  • If you’re offered the role, we’ll arrange an Enhanced DBS check as part of our pre-employment process (unless you’re already registered with the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
