Job Introduction
Sitting within the Adult Learning department, The Community Employment Service provides employment support to residents across the borough and to dedicated groups of individuals (e.g. homeless, mental health, learning disabilities and autism).
Offering a mixture of practical assistance, group and individual intervention alongside in-work support, the teams work with individuals to maximise their potential and achieve a positive outcome in securing paid work.
Funded through the Economy Recovery initiative, we are looking for an Employer Engagement Officer to join us in helping job seekers get back into employment and back on their feet.
Main Responsibility
As an Employer Engagement Officer, the role involves:
- Negotiating and securing paid employment opportunities with local businesses.
- Collaborating with employment advisors to support job seekers.
- Self-sourcing leads using a range of approaches.
- Providing advice and guidance to customers with a specific focus on welfare benefits.
- Operating as the Single Point of Contact between Milton Keynes Council and potential employers.
- Internal and external partnership working to maximise opportunities for customers.
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in the role of Employer Engagement Officer, the ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience of successfully achieving positive outcomes for customers.
- Excellent communication, negotiating and influencing skills.
- To generate innovative and creative ideas, setting clear objectives for customers' engagement and achievement.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience of recruitment, HR or employer engagement fields.
- Good IT and administrative skills.
