Job Introduction
We’re recruiting a Charging Officer to join our Financial Assessment and Care Charging Team at Milton Keynes City Council. This is a rewarding role that supports Adult Social Care by ensuring charges are for Adult Social Care services that are provided to support people’s care and support needs, and that they are calculated fairly and accurately.
The Financial Assessment and Care Charging Team calculates the financial contribution a client can afford to pay towards their Adult Social Care services. Working closely with colleagues across the council, as well as with clients and care providers, the team ensures charges are based on assessed weekly contributions and the services delivered. This helps maximise income for the council while supporting people in a clear, transparent and respectful way.
In this role, you’ll play an important part in raising accurate invoices, responding to queries, and working with Sundry Debt colleagues to help reduce Adult Social Care debt. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values accuracy, good communication and doing the right thing for residents and colleagues alike.
This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home‑based roles require a minimum of one day per week working from the office or site.
Interviews for this role will be held on 16th June 2026
At Milton Keynes City Council, we aim to make a difference every day. We’re dedicated, respectful and collaborative. We act as one council, and we work hard to create cleaner, safer and healthier communities while tackling inequalities and supporting people to thrive.
