Allocations & Lettings Team Leader

Job Introduction

Our Allocations and Lettings team plays a vital role in delivering decent, affordable homes for residents across Milton Keynes. 

We manage the housing register and ensure fair and efficient allocation of council homes and nominated properties. 

As Allocations Team Leader, you'll lead a dedicated team to provide a customer-focused service that meets statutory responsibilities and supports our wider goal of creating cleaner, safer and healthier communities.

Main Responsibility

  • Lead and manage the Allocations Team to deliver an effective allocations service.
  • Oversee void management and the allocation of council homes and nominated properties.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and the council’s allocations scheme.
  • Support stakeholder relationships with registered providers and internal services.
  • Carry out all aspects of line management including induction, one-to-ones and training.
  • Deputise for the Allocations and Lettings Manager when required.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who shares our values: Dedicated, Respectful and Collaborative. You will:

  • Hold CIH Level 4 (or be willing to work towards) and have five GCSEs including English.
  • Have detailed knowledge of housing legislation and experience in allocations.
  • Be confident working with internal and external stakeholders, including councillors and registered landlords.
  • Demonstrate strong IT skills and proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Be organised, proactive and able to work on your own initiative.
  • Show flexibility and adaptability to meet service needs.

If you are offered the role, we will carry out a Basic DBS check and BPSS referencing as part of the pre-employment process.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
