Job Introduction
We’re recruiting an ASYE Social Worker to join our Children in Care Team at Milton Keynes City Council.

The Children in Care Team is responsible for ensuring effective care planning in line with statutory and legal responsibilities for all children we care for. Milton Keynes City Council is the corporate parent to over 450 children in care, with over 320 children supported directly by the Children in Care Team. Our work ensures children feel safe, supported and able to thrive.
In this role, you’ll hold responsibility for care planning, safeguarding and statutory responsibilities for children in our care. You’ll work closely with children, families, carers and partner agencies to make sure plans are meaningful, timely and centred on the child’s needs.
This is a site-based role

Main Responsibility
- Completing high-quality assessments that clearly identify children’s needs and reflect their lived experiences
- Developing, implementing and reviewing care plans within statutory timescales
- Managing a varied caseload of children in care, taking timely action to safeguard and promote wellbeing
- Working closely with partner agencies to deliver coordinated, child-centred support
- Attending regular supervision to reflect on practice and support continuous development
- Representing the council in court proceedings, including preparing reports and giving evidence when required
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds a recognised social work qualification and is registered with Social Work England
- Has experience working with children and families within statutory services
- Communicates clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing
- Can analyse information, make sound decisions and manage risk in complex situations
- Works in a reflective way and is committed to continuous professional development
- Is resilient, organised and able to manage competing priorities
To be successful in this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If you’re offered the position, we’ll ask for proof of your licence and vehicle insurance, including business use cover. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to confirm your appointment without these documents.
If you’re offered the role, we’ll arrange an Enhanced DBS check as part of our pre-employment process (unless you’re already registered with the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
