Principal Building Control Surveyor

Job Introduction

Due to a recent retirement, we are recruiting to the position of Principal Building Control Surveyor. 

As a new and rapidly developing town the work in Milton Keynes is wide and varied, including villages mentioned in the Doomsday book, through to some of the country’s most modern and innovative developments. Work is across all types from domestic extensions and new housing including high risk buildings, through to commercial and large public buildings such as the recently listed shopping centre, the MK Dons football stadium and cinemas bars and restaurants. 

 

 

Main Responsibility

The role will include managing an area team for plan checking, site inspections and investigations of unauthorised works and dangerous structures together with mentoring and supervisory duties of more junior staff. Deputising and supporting  the building control manager in the delivery of and improvement of  the service 

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, with complex communication skills to share their knowledge with team members and stakeholders. They will be a competent professional with an indepth knowledge and experience of construction methods and materials. Together with an applied understanding of the Building Act, the Building Regulations, and the Building Control function. 

Additional knowledge and experience that can be brought to the Building Control team will be considered when assessing applicants for the role.
