Support Worker - Relief

Job Introduction

We’re recruiting Support Workers to join our Adult Provider Services team.

Our service provides personalised care and practical support for adults with a range of needs, including people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities and people with complex health or physical needs. You’ll help people live with dignity, make choices and take part in activities that are meaningful to them.

You’ll join us at an important time as we continue to develop and strengthen our services. We’re also preparing for a future move to Linford Wood Place, a modern, purpose-built facility designed to support high-quality care and positive outcomes.

This enhanced environment will create more opportunities for people who use our services to thrive, while giving colleagues the space and resources they need to deliver outstanding support.

The role involves working flexibly across different service areas, within the community and in people’s homes.
You’ll need to work a flexible pattern to meet the needs of the people we support.

Main Responsibility

  • Deliver personalised care and support for people with a range of individual needs.
  • Follow individual care plans and report changes in a person’s needs, health or circumstances.
  • Plan and support meaningful activities that reflect each person’s choices, needs and preferences.
  • Provide personal care while protecting each person’s privacy, dignity, comfort and wellbeing.
  • Keep clear and accurate written and electronic records, and communicate effectively with families, colleagues and external organisations.
  • Recognise and respond to risks or crisis situations, seeking support and guidance when needed.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Your understanding of the needs of people who require care and support will help you promote positive and empowering experiences.
  • Clear and respectful communication skills will enable you to listen, respond to non-verbal communication and maintain accurate records.
  • An appreciation of confidentiality is important when recording information and sharing it with the right people.
  • Calm and considered decision-making will help you respond safely to complex situations and manage risks appropriately.
  • Being dedicated, respectful and collaborative will support you in building trusted relationships with the people we support, their families and your colleagues.

Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle

To be successful in this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If we offer you the role, we’ll ask you to provide evidence of your driving licence and vehicle insurance, including cover for business use. We’re unable to confirm an appointment until these documents are received.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
