Sports Partnership Officer

Job Introduction

We’re looking for a Sports Partnership Officer to join our Leisure Team which leads the delivery and promotion of sport and leisure across the growing city of Milton Keynes.

This role provides a great opportunity to play a leading role in developing and implementing a strategy for the future of sport in Milton Keynes. You will use your expert knowledge to help shape plans for sport in our growing city.

You’ll work with a wide range of internal and external partners including Sport England (the local activity partnership) and other key local organisations such as our EFL football club, MK Dons to encourage increased levels of physical activity sports and leisure initiatives. You will help grassroot clubs thrive and work with national governing bodies to bring in funding for sport in the city.

Main Responsibility

  • Lead on the promotion of sports contributing to a healthy and active city.
  • Develop and deliver a sports strategy, working in partnership with a range of internal and external partners.
  • Represent Milton Keynes City Council on local, regional and national partnerships.
  • Provide support to grass roots sports clubs and community projects to develop and become sustainable.
  • Build relationships with national sporting bodies and funders.
  • Identify and secure funding to support the delivery of sport in Milton Keynes.​

The Ideal Candidate

  • Preferably from a sports development background, with experience of working with a variety of partners including national sporting bodies on a range of projects.
  • Experience in identifying funding opportunities and successfully bidding for funding.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and motivate others.
  • Excellent leadership skills, work well under pressure, good attention to detail and have proactive problem-solving skills.
  • For this role you are required to have a full UK driving licence and provide evidence of your vehicle insurance with business cover and use of a vehicle. If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your licence prior to starting the role.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
