Specialist Business Support Team Leader

Job Introduction

This is an interesting opportunity for a confident, well-organised person to lead the business support team within our busy Building Control service.

Building Control ensures that local buildings meet standards for safety, inclusivity, and efficiency. Business support colleagues play an important role in what we do, whether by giving advice to customers or making sure applications are accurately documented.

As the Specialist Business Support Team Leader, you’ll help to bring about change within the team, so we can become even more efficient. 

This role is site-based at our offices in central Milton Keynes.

Main Responsibility

  • Processing building regulation applications and deliver exceptional customer service, both over the phone and via email.
  • Keeping processes documented and under review in line with our LABC quality assurance accreditation ISO9001.
  • Responsible for raising sales invoices, purchases orders and carrying out associated financial processes.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the building control IT system and liaising with the service providers as needed.
  • Manage and support the business support team to deliver the best for our customers.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent or able to demonstrate significant administrative experience.
  • Previous experience of management and delivering business support in a complex and technical service, including providing in house training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including customer services skills and conflict management.
  • Highly proficient IT skills, with demonstrable high level of competence in data analysis and presentation, Excel, Word, Microsoft 365 and bespoke databases. A proven ability to quickly and confidently learn how to use a variety of IT systems.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management System and process mapping and implementation.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to effectively manage a team to perform to high standards and continuously evolve and improve.
  • To be able to work independently; analyse the situation and information and make well considered decisions.
  • Ability to lead change and work with others to facilitate changes whilst finding ways of helping others to find solutions to problems.
