Job Introduction
We’re recruiting a Social Worker to join our Safeguarding Adults Team at Milton Keynes City Council.
This is a rewarding role where your work will directly support adults at risk and help keep people safe in our city.
You’ll be part of a dedicated team providing a consistent approach to fulfilling our duties under section 42 of the Care Act 2014.
The Safeguarding Adults Team ensures concerns are responded to lawfully, proportionately, and in a person centred way.
The team provides oversight of safeguarding work across Adult Social Care, helping to ensure high quality and consistent practice.
Our work protects adults with care and support needs from abuse and neglect and plays a vital role in promoting safety and wellbeing across Milton Keynes.
This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace

Main Responsibility
- Leading and coordinating cases involving high levels of risk and complexity, including section 42 safeguarding enquiries.
- Completing assessments and planning proportionate interventions that reflect individual circumstances.
- Applying strengths-based approaches to support independence, choice, and wellbeing.
- Maintaining accurate and timely case records using council systems.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to safeguard adults at risk.
- Participating in reflective supervision and applying learning to practice.
The Ideal Candidate
- A recognised social work qualification such as DipSW, CQSW, or a degree in social work.
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development in line with Social Work England requirements.
- Experience working as a social worker and a commitment to progressing through the social work progression scale.
- A working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Human Rights Act 1998.
- The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with adults, families, and professionals.
- The ability to travel to meet service delivery needs and work flexibly when required.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If we offer you the role, we’ll ask you to provide evidence of your driving licence and vehicle insurance, including cover for business use. We’re unable to confirm an appointment until these documents are received.
As part of the pre-employment checks, should you be offered the role, we’ll carry out an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, (unless you are currently registered with the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
