Job Introduction
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Level 3 Social Worker to join our Fostering Service within Children’s Social Care.
As part of your role, you’ll fulfil Milton Keynes City Council’s statutory requirements under the Children Act 1989, Fostering Regulations 2011 and National Minimum Standards 2011.
As a team we cover mainstream fostering, kinship and special guardianship and this role focuses on the support and supervision of foster carers, kinship carers and special guardians.
This role is eligible for you to be referred by an MKCC employee, as part of the Children’s Services Social Worker Referral Scheme. The successful candidate, and the referrer, will, subject to all conditions of the scheme being met, receive £1000. The reward is split into two £500 payments, the first received on appointment, and the second after the first-year anniversary of being in post. You must indicate in your application, the name of the person referring you, for this to apply. It cannot be applied retrospectively.
Main Responsibility
- Ensure that services are delivered in line with legal requirements and ensure that all children placed with carers are safeguarded and their well-being is promoted.
- Assist in the recruitment, retention and support of foster carers, and the timely completion of assessments.
- Participate in the placement Duty system.
- Support the Fostering Operations Manager with the development of Fostering strategies and policies and completion of household reviews.
- Accurate individual case records are maintained electronically and reports are provided as required.
- Attend regular supervisory meetings with team manager and/or a senior member regularly to monitor progress and identify development needs.
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Social Worker with a valid Social Work England registration, eligible to work in the UK and hold a UK driving licence.
- Experience of case holding within the Fostering Service.
- Self-motivated and able to analyse highly complex information, summarise and write/record relevant information clearly and concisely so that it is easily understood.
- Good interpersonal, organisational and information management skills.
