Sheltered Housing Officer

Job Introduction

The Council's Sheltered Housing Service manages 25 schemes and our large team of Sheltered Housing Officers do a really important job in supporting the 850 tenants within them, while ensuring our schemes remain safe and secure. We now need a full-time Sheltered Housing Officer to manage our scheme in Pennyland. 

You need to be enthusiastic about working with older people, have an understanding of their needs and have a flexible, problem solving approach.

       

Main Responsibility

  • Visiting tenants daily, providing low level support and promoting ongoing independence. 
  • Completing independent living plans with tenants and making sure all records are kept up to date. 
  • Encouraging activities within the scheme and chairing tenants meetings.
  • Making sure the building conforms to health and safety standards and reporting all repair issues.
  • Property viewings, housing suitability assessments and testing our community alarm equipment.
  • Working closely with other agencies to promote safeguarding.

  • Someone who is flexible -  you will need to provide cover in other schemes sometimes.
