Job Introduction
We’re looking for an experienced social worker who is enthusiastic, motivated and has experience in supporting social workers and social work assistants to join us as a Senior Social Worker in our Working Age Adults Team.
In return, we offer a £4,000 'annual' market supplement (pro rata) and a Golden Hello payment of £6,000
As a Senior Social Worker, you have the ability and experience to undertake strengths-based Care Act assessments, reviews and care planning with individuals and carers, safeguarding enquiries, Mental Capacity Assessments and Continuing Health Care assessments. You will also lead on cases involving cases of high risk and complexity which might involve the coordination of section 42 enquiries (Care Act 2014) and applications to the Court of Protection.
You will support formal and peer discussions with social workers and social work assistants including coordinating and leading professional meetings. Provide guidance and supportive challenge to promote CPD and professional growth and support the Deputy Team manager to oversee a team of social workers and social work assistants.

Main Responsibility
- Undertake strengths-based Care Act assessments, reviews, safeguarding concerns and enquiries, and Continuing Health Care assessments.
- Mental Capacity Assessments and duty work. Leading on cases involving cases of high risk and complexity which might involve the coordination of section 42 enquiries (Care Act 2014) and applications to the Court of Protection.
- Providing support to social workers and social work assistants to produce strengths-based assessments that are reflective of the individual and their situation.
- Working in partnership with other key partners such as health, and housing to ensure that all possible individual outcomes are achieved.
- Supporting Colleagues within a multidisciplinary service, and supporting the deputy team manager in managing and prioritising allocations based on risk, need and urgency.
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- You will need to have at least two years post qualifying experience, as a social worker.
- Expert knowledge of the applications of Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Human Rights Act 1998, Continuing Health Care and other relevant legislations.
- Ability and experience to undertake innovative strengths-based assessments and care planning with individuals, carers and their personal support networks.
- Excellent understanding of learning disabilities , autism and possible impacts on the daily lives of adults.
- Excellent assessment and communication skills.
- Able to accurately assess individual’s circumstances in relation to the role and service and develop appropriate plans.
- Experience of working with young adults will be an advantage.
- Participate in regular professional supervision, both individual and group and take active responsibility for personal development and appraisal as well as supervising others in line with MKCC Policies and Procedures.
- Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).
- For this role you are required to have a full UK driving licence. If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your licence prior to starting, you will also be required to provide evidence of your vehicle insurance with business use. This is required for any roles that requires the employee to travel to more than one place of work.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
