Senior Lawyer - Maternity Cover

Job Introduction

We're recruiting a Senior Lawyer to join our Procurement, Contracts and Governance Legal team who advise the City Council on multiple projects and support all of our services. This is a fixed term role covering maternity leave.

In this role, you will be a key member of the team, advising on all projects with an estimated value of £100k or more from start to finish as well as on lower value projects where external frameworks are used, construction contracts are being let and/or where there are complexities or risks that require legal attention.

Main Responsibility

  • Advising all departments on matters of procurement, contracts and governance
  • Advising in commercial projects of medium to high complexity including construction contracts (JCT and NEC3)
  • Supporting junior members of the team

The Ideal Candidate

  • A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow
  • Significant experience of advising in procurement and contracts
  • Ability to find practical but legal solutions to issues
  • Able to demonstrate personal commitment to MKCC values including respect, collaboration and dedication.
