Job Introduction

You’ll provide and manage comprehensive support to the city council’s Director of Adult Social Care, who oversees work to support vulnerable adults in their homes, at council sites and in the wider community, helping them to live an inspiring life and achieve their goals.
You’ll be an important part of a small team of Senior Executive Assistants providing support to the city council’s Corporate Leadership Team, and as such you’ll gain a wide insight into the workings of Milton Keynes City Council and the communities we serve.
You will set high standards of written and verbal communication when investigating issues, conducting research and composing responses to inbound correspondence, along with tracking and progressing actions to ensure deadlines are met.
Main Responsibility
- Provide and manage a comprehensive, confidential executive support service to the Director.
- Manage a complex diary and undertake forward planning for all meetings, visits, engagements and other activities – this may include complex minute taking.
- Progress issues, complaints and actions on behalf of the Director forwarding them to appropriate colleagues and/or relevant stakeholders within agreed timescales.
- Act as first point of contact for the Director, prioritising issues and dealing with as much as possible yourself or commissioning responses where it is not necessary to refer the matter upwards.
- Regularly monitor inboxes, progressing emails and responses, dealing with and making judgements where appropriate.
- You may be required to be responsible for the line management of other support staff assigned to support the wider team, therefore previous experience of line management would be beneficial.
The Ideal Candidate
- Significant previous Senior Executive Assistant experience working to a Board Level Director.
- Experience of taking minutes/action notes at complex meetings.
- Excellent IT skills and confident with using other IT systems.
- Excellent communication, written and listening skills.
- Practical and organised.
- Ability to communicate with residents and colleagues at all levels.
- Able to work as part of a team.
