Job Introduction
We’re currently seeking a Senior Executive Assistant to join our team.
You’ll provide and manage comprehensive Executive Assistant support to two Directors, namely the Director Finance and Resources and the Director Law and Governance in a modern and professional environment where pace, attention to detail and your experience of dealing with people at a senior level will be relied upon every day.
We’re a small team of Senior Executive Assistants providing support across the city council and the Corporate Leadership Team. Therefore, you’ll gain a wide insight into the workings of Milton Keynes City Council.

Main Responsibility
- Provide and manage a comprehensive, confidential executive support service to two Directors.
- Manage complex diaries and undertake forward planning for all meetings, visits, engagements and other activities – this will include complex minute taking.
- Progress issues, complaints and actions on behalf of the Directors forwarding them to appropriate colleagues and/or relevant stakeholders within agreed timescales.
- Act as first point of contact for the Directors, prioritising issues and dealing with as much as possible yourself or commissioning responses where it is not necessary to refer the matter upwards.
- Regularly monitor inboxes, progressing emails and responses, dealing with and making judgements where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
- Level 4 Business Administration qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
- Significant Executive Assistant experience working to Director/Board level.
- Experience of taking minutes at complex meetings and ability to analyse, summarise and record relevant information clearly and concisely.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- High level IT skills with demonstrable competence in Office 365, Teams and SharePoint.
- Ability to effectively manage a team to perform to high standards as you may be required to be responsible for the line management of other support staff assigned to support the Director as necessary.
- Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues involving colleagues at all levels, building positive relationships and networks to get the job done.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
