Senior Business Support Assistant - Home Care & Reablement

Job Introduction

Both services looking to recruit to this role are Domiciliary Care services, where carers visit people in their own homes to provide support to Adults (18+) with a wide variety of care needs. The purpose of our services are to enable people with care and support needs to remain living in their own homes. Our Home Care Service provides long term complex care and our Reablement Service focuses on providing short term care to people who have seen a recent change in their ability to manage their own care needs, and need support to regain their independence.

Our Home Care Service is based in Simpson, Milton Keynes. Our Reablement Service is based in Bletchley Community Hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a small team of administrative staff in each team, ensuring that a highly effective and efficient business support in provided.

Both services are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), so it is important that the administrative support provided supports the services with ensuring that CQC issued guidance and regulations are met at all times.

Main Responsibility

*  To provide a highly effective and efficient business support within the service, managing a small number of Business Support Assistants, delegating tasks such as audio/copy typing, scanning/indexing documents, photocopying (not an exhaustive list). 

* Ensure that work produced by the Business Support Assistants is of a good quality and that timescales are met.

* Use IT systems to organise and manage data, following agreed processes under the guidance of the Registered Manager or Service Manager of the service.

* Support with processing financial transactions in line with the councils finance procedures.

* To provide a polite, professional first point of contact for service users and other professional staff visiting service facilities, escalating any potential issues to management.

* Take responsibility for, and be committed to personal and professional development and keep up to date with law, regulation, guidance, standards, Government policy and research relating to all aspects of the work.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be somebody that is able to work in a flexible manner to meet the needs of the service. They should hold (or be willing to work towards) a Level 3 Business Administration qualification or have equivalent and relevant experience. Excellent IT skills are absolutely essential for the role.

The post holder will be expected to operate in line with Milton Keynes Council's values which are: "We are: Dedicated, Respectful and Collaborative". They must be able to work well as part of team, but also be able to work independently.

The successful candidate must feel comfortable dealing with people, and have a good telephone manner. They should have excellent verbal and written communication kills with expertise in taking complex minutes, report writing and data analysis and presentation.
