Job Introduction
This role is part of a team that provides specialist support and training for school business managers and administration staff in the use of the SIMS and FMS administration software management information systems (MIS). The post holder will take specific responsibility for areas in the system related to SIMS Finance, Personnel and Resource modules, and for SIMS Core, Pupil Performance, Attendance, Reporting and Behaviour modules. However, the ability to support other SIMS and non-SIMS software modules will be required.
Collaboration is required between the holder, team and other MKC/ICT services to deliver business application support services to schools including diagnosis and resolution of software and system issues; liaison with external suppliers; delivering training in both formal and informal environments and testing of new releases, including the development and production of system/user documentation.
Main Responsibility
- Provide support for SIMS software and develop expertise in other software areas to ensure a comprehensive service to customers.
- Contribute to the Service Desk in order to provide part of the necessary skills set required to maintain customer confidence.
- Advise schools on management and administrative solutions available through the use of ESS SIMS to facilitate effective administration school management.
- Write and deliver training courses on a variety of software, specifically financial, personnel, performance, reporting, attendance or pupil modules, for delivery to schools and LEA clients. They should be able to tailor training and consultancy for individual schools’ and LA requirements to facilitate best practice use of the software.
- Develop and maintain links with schools, LA services and the software suppliers in order to provide solutions to education related information systems requirements.
- Maintain an awareness of appropriate educational issues in order to sustain credibility with customers.
- Develop ways of extending the usage and scope of SIMS and administrative software in schools and the LA.
- Communicate appropriately with technical and non-technical staff, verbally and in writing.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in using SIMS & FMS products.
- Experience of working in or with schools.
- Experience in producing documentation for IT support purposes and end-users.
- Can communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Some IT knowledge would be an asset.
