You'll manage the billing, collection, and recovery of Council Tax, ensuring compliance with regulations and providing support to our community's most vulnerable members.

This role is may suitable for home working, following an assessment.
Main Responsibility
- Updating the Council’s Council Tax billing system to ensure that bills issued are correct and in accordance with the appropriate regulations, legislation, and guidance.
- Offer advice and guidance to customers on all aspects of Council Tax, including discounts and exemptions.
- Undertake all necessary duties for the efficient billing, collection, and recovery of the Council Tax.
- Liaising with stakeholders, including enforcement agencies, employers for attachments and other Council departments where required.
- Understand and meet the needs of our customers and identify and signpost customers in need of debt management or other advice.
- Communicating with customers via phone to discuss and negotiate payment options.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in administering Council Tax accounts is preferred.
- Flexible and willing to adapt to change in a busy and demanding environment.
- Proven Customer Service experience.
- Proven experience in debt negotiation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Excel and Word.
- Experience of using NEC Northgate System • Strong communication skills across various channels.
- Capable of meeting challenging deadlines.
- Ability to undertake repetitive and high-volume tasks whilst maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Please note, should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks a Basic DBS will be actioned for you and BPSS checks including three-year worth of references.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
