Great Linford Parish Council (GLPC), proud winner of Council of the Year at the 2024 NALC Star Council Awards, is seeking a skilled and motivated Responsible Finance Officer (RFO) to join our dynamic team. The vacancy has arisen following the current position holder’s promotion to Parish Manager
Serving a vibrant community of over 20,000 residents across 12 estates, GLPC is nationally recognised for its innovation, community engagement, and excellence in local governance. As RFO, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our high standards of financial stewardship and supporting the delivery of impactful community services.

Main Responsibility
As RFO, you will:
• Lead the financial management of the Council, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and best practices.
• Prepare budgets, manage payroll and VAT, oversee audits, and produce financial reports.
• Support procurement and contract management processes.
• Advise on financial strategy and contribute to medium-term financial planning.
• Act as Clerk to the Finance Governance & Asset Committee.
You’ll work closely with the Parish Manager, internal and external auditors, and a dedicated Finance Administrator, contributing to the strategic direction of the Council

The Ideal Candidate
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
• Professional finance/accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIPFA).
• Proven experience in financial administration, payroll, VAT, and audit.
• Strong IT and Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Desirable:
• Experience in local government or parish council finance.
• CILCA or FILCA (or willingness to work towards).
• Knowledge of procurement and contract lifecycle management.
