Project Manager -Sustainability

Job Introduction

The Council’s Housing Asset Management and Investment Team manages 11,000 homes and a further 3,000 shared ownership and leaseholder properties. We are developing our team and are looking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated Sustainability Project Manager to drive our plans to improve the thermal efficiency of our residents’ homes.

The role will involve delivering large scale retrofit projects, from inception to completion of works and ongoing monitoring of their effectiveness. You’ll work in partnership with a range of stakeholders and colleagues, alongside our partnering contractors to reduce the impact of rising fuel costs and support the priorities of Milton Keynes Council’s Sustainability Strategy.  We are a friendly and supportive team committed to improving the well-being of our residents.

The role will spend considerable amount of time on site but will have opportunity to work from home or office when off site.

Main Responsibility

  • You will work with key stakeholders to identify funding opportunities and prepare bids to increase the scale of works we can deliver.
  • You will project manage retrofit  & energy efficiency projects on our properties, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time and in budget.
  • Working with colleagues and partners you will engage with the communities living in our homes to ensure projects consider the residents’ needs.
  • As a recipient of Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund monies, this role will ensure reporting and returns to BEIS are done.
  • The role will work with other colleagues across the Council in identifying ways we can deliver on the aspirations of our Sustainability Strategy.

The Ideal Candidate

  • You will be educated to degree level with a built environment sustainability qualification or significant experience in this field.
  • You will be able to demonstrate a track record in delivering large scale improvement projects to domestic dwellings, through good project management skills and technical knowledge.
  • Sound knowledge in the principals of PAS2035 and wider sustainability policies at a national level will be necessary.
  • As you will be working with a range of people and organisations, effective communication skills are key to successful projects.
