Operational Manager

Job Introduction

We’re seeking an Operational Manager to join our Day Services team who provide support for vulnerable adults.

You’ll lead a team who provide person centred services and provide management support across a range of service locations including the community.

You’ll have detailed knowledge of all service areas in order to offer direct management and support as required to meet service need. This will include understanding and facilitating opportunities for improving join working and potential efficiencies across the service.

Main Responsibility

  • Directing teams to provide person-centred services for vulnerable adults.
  • Monitor the changing needs of the people that utilise the service and adapt their support to effectively meet their needs to promote positive outcomes for people.
  • Incorporating Positive Behaviour Support plans, collaborative multi-disciplinary working, continuous observation, mentoring and coaching to ensure high quality skill set of teams to ensure services are delivered in accordance with the agreed package of care. This includes those managed through external funding care providers.
  • Required to liaise with commissioning agencies to ensure the package of care is correct and this can be evidenced for auditing purposes.
  • Provide day to day people management of Team Leaders, Nurses, Housekeepers, Administrative team colleagues etc across service locations and within the community in line with MKCC policies.
  • Duties may include attendance monitoring, performance management, and recruitment and induction of new colleagues into the service.
  • Facilitating team working and ‘one team’ thinking through guidance and direct support.
  • Having detailed knowledge of all service areas to offer direct management and support as required to meet service need. This will include understanding and facilitating opportunities for improving joint working and potential efficiencies across the service.
  • Assist on the analysis, benchmarking and interpretation of data and information to inform service development and improved practices, collating and presenting reports for a range of audiences to facilitate review, planning, monitoring and intervention.
  • Develop new and existing projects in conjunction with service provision and business need under the supervision of a Line Manager and /or Service Manager.
  • Ensure that all internal recording is consistent with statutory framework and requirements.
  • Monitoring of policies and procedures for compliance with all applicable legislation such as The Health and Social Care Act 2012, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Clinical Governance, CQC, internal MKCC policies, local service procedures and other statutory bodies as required.
  • Actively manage first line concerns and complaints, carry out investigations and resolve within agreed timescales. Report areas of potential service improvements, developing feedback and ensure outcomes and improvements are delivered and maintained.
  • Deputise for the management team, undertaking delegated complex tasks requiring resource management and to use own initiative to determine and manage risk ensuring any service issues or risk are reported to the Service Manager or Line Manager.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Our ideal candidate would have a genuine desire to provide meaningful, considered support and have the ability to thrive in a person-centred environment.
  • Able to keep service user’s views and preferences at the heart of planning and decision making and a staff team member who is self-motivated, resilient, and well-organised.
  • Experience of all aspects of carrying out assessments and audits and able to keep up to date with legislation, best practice and changes within health and social care.
  • Must have the ability to work well under pressure and is flexible to meet the needs of people we support. An effective written and verbal communicator who is friendly and approachable, but able to be assertive and maintain a professional approach.
  • Experienced in the management of care and support staff, including experience of team building and maintaining a highly motivated team.
  • For this role you are required to have a full UK driving licence and provide evidence of your vehicle insurance with business use. If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your licence prior to starting the role.
  • Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
