Occupational Therapy Support Assistant

Job Introduction

Our Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy and Adaptations Service is seeking an Occupational Therapy Support Assistant (OTSA) to provide maternity cover, on a fixed term contract for 12 months. This team is the first point of contact to the service. You’ll provide support via the phone or email to screen and triage incoming Occupational Therapy referrals. This role is office based in our Civic offices.

Main Responsibility

This team has the important function of responding to incoming enquiries and referrals relating to Occupational Therapy services. It provides technical information, advice, and recommends basic equipment to people experiencing challenges in activities of daily living such as accessing and moving around their home, safe mobility, personal care and meal preparation. This includes advising on the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) financial assessment processes, where appropriate. The team also refers cases which require more complex work or major adaptations to the relevant team, service or professional.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with developed customer service skills, who has experience of working with adults with disabilities or older adults. The ideal candidate will also have some knowledge and/or experience of aids and equipment. Relevant training for the role will be provided.

Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
