Job Introduction
We’re recruiting Social Workers with safeguarding experience to join the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) as we are expanding.
MASH is the front door to Children’s Social Care, all referrals come through to us and we triage how best to help children and their families. We’re also an assessment team who undertake home visits and then complete the Children and Families Assessment and carry out child protection enquiries.
The work is short term as those needing long term support will transfer out of MASH following assessment. Our team is based in Civic and whilst you’ll mainly be based on site, there are opportunities to work from home.
The role requires an enhanced DBS check and attracts an annual Retention Bonus of £4,000 based on performance. Milton Keynes City Council is a modern and friendly place to work.
Main Responsibility
- Participate in the duty rota, undertake up to three Children and Families Assessments per week, participate in giving advice and undertaking Section 47 safeguarding activities.
- Provide advice and guidance to unqualified colleagues
- Provide supervision to a customer liaison officer
- Provide advice and guidance to an school
The Ideal Candidate
- A qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and hold relevant experience.
- Social work degree.
- Wants to become a part of a supportive and friendly team.
- For this role you are required to have a full UK driving licence and provide evidence of your Vehicle Insurance with business use and access to a car. If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your licence prior to starting the role.
- Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
