Job Introduction
We're looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable social worker to join our Fostering Service within Children’s Social Care. This is a fixed term role covering maternity leave for 12 months.
The team is managed by the Fostering Operations Manager and two Deputy Team Managers, managing social workers and social work assistants to fulfil Milton Keynes City Council’s statutory requirements under the Children Act 1989, Fostering Regulations 2011 and National Minimum Standards 2011.
The work of the team covers mainstream fostering, kinship and special guardianship.
Interviews for this role will be held on 15 November.
Main Responsibility
- Supervise and support foster carers.
- Comply with Fostering National Minimum Standards.
- Write reports and ensure foster carers are compliant with the National Minimum Standards for Fostering.
- Attend fostering panel, undertake assessments and take part in the fostering placement duty rota.
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Social Worker with a valid Social Work England registration.
- Experience of working with looked after children and foster carers.
- Ability to complete reports to a high standard.
- Good interpersonal, organisational and information management skills.
- For this role you are required to have a full UK driving licence and provide evidence of your vehicle insurance with business cover and use of a vehicle. If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your licence prior to starting the role.
- Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
