Job Introduction
We’re recruiting a Lead Analyst to join our Children’s Social Care performance and intelligence team.
You’ll help us make sure our services have the right insight to deliver meaningful outcomes for children, young people and families across Milton Keynes.
Our team supports colleagues across the service by turning complex data into clear, useful information, helping us plan ahead and understand how well we’re doing.
This role is ideal for someone with strong experience working with large datasets, social care performance information or similar analytical environments. You’ll play a key role in supporting inspections, statutory returns and long-term planning for Children’s Services.

This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home-based roles require a minimum of one day in the office/site per week.

Main Responsibility
- Lead our Children’s Performance team, supporting colleagues to provide high quality insight and analysis.
- Collect, analyse and interpret data to develop clear, accessible performance reports for senior leaders and service managers.
- Ensure statutory returns and inspection requirements for Children’s Social Care are accurate and completed on time.
- Help shape policy and service planning through data driven recommendations.
- Develop effective reporting tools and methods, including visualisation and performance dashboards.
- Represent Milton Keynes City Council at regional and national performance groups to bring learning back into the service.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has a degree in a relevant subject or significant experience working with performance data in Children’s Social Care.
- Understands performance and inspection frameworks, ideally within Children’s or Adults’ Social Care
- Confident working with large datasets, applying strategic thinking and problem solving.
- Experience with SQL, data warehouses and tools such as Power BI or SSRS.
- Communicates clearly with different audiences, translating complex information into everyday language.
- Works in a way that reflects our values: dedicated, respectful and collaborative.
- If you are offered the role, we will carry out a Basic DBS check.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
