Laundry Assistant

Job Introduction

We’re looking for a professional, friendly, and welcoming person to join our established Laundry Team who support people with a social care need. This is a rewarding opportunity where you can make a real difference to vulnerable people across Milton Keynes.

You’ll need to be able to communicate well, verbally and in writing and be able to build and maintain positive relationships with our service users and wider teams.

As a Laundry Assistant you’ll wash, dry and press laundry items using the laundry room equipment and products provided. You’ll also sort and bag client laundry in accordance with schedules provided as well as update delivery schedules and handle customers queries.

On occasion you may be required to collect and deliver laundry to our customers using a company provided vehicle, so a full manual UK driving license is required.

Full induction and training will be provided. An enhanced DBS check is required.

Main Responsibility

  • Sorting dirty washing, loading the washing machines, tumble dryers and operating the rotary irons.
  • Sorting clean pressed laundry and placing into bags ready to be returned to the correct service user.
  • Ensure that the environment is kept clean and always working within Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Substitute for the Laundry Driver where required, due to annual leave or sickness. This involves collecting and dropping off laundry at service user homes within the Milton Keynes postcode.
  • Assist the Laundry Co-Ordinator with answering queries from service users and recording appropriately.

The Ideal Candidate

  • The post holder will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Dedicated to the role, to ensure service users’ needs are met and their experiences are positive.
  • Be willing to engage in necessary training and guidance relating to the duties of the role and health and safety requirements.
  • For this role you are required to have a full manual UK driving licence and provide evidence of your vehicle insurance with business cover and use of a vehicle. If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your licence prior to starting the role.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
