Job Introduction
The ICT Infrastructure Team ensures the stability, security, and performance of the Council’s core technology systems. We manage the networks, servers, cloud platforms, and digital tools that power essential services for residents, businesses, and council staff across Milton Keynes.
The team are based in Civic Offices, however hybrid working is available with up to 2 days working from home
It’s an exciting time to be joining MKCC, we’re currently leading a major transformation project to modernise the Council’s infrastructure and migrate key services to Microsoft Azure—enhancing resilience, scalability, and sustainability.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and enhancing the Council’s cloud infrastructure, bringing a minimum of two years’ experience in Azure administration to help manage virtual networks, resources, and services in a secure, scalable, and efficient environment.
This role requires at least two years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft complex and enterprise-scale Azure infrastructure, Intune and SCCM services, as they will be expected to contribute immediately to the management and support of a complex, enterprise-scale infrastructure.

Main Responsibility
- Provide 3rd line support and manage server and desktop infrastructure, including license allocation and monitoring.
- Administer SCCM and MDM platforms, develop policies, and automate hardware deployments.
- Support corporate IT services including compliance, messaging, security, patching, and Microsoft technologies.
- Log and resolve support requests, diagnose moderately complex issues, and ensure service continuity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to manage installations, upgrades, and provide expert advice on systems and services.
- Maintain virtual infrastructure, including patching, backups, and upgrades.
- Monitor and manage endpoint and server protection, ensuring threat resolution and policy compliance.
The Ideal Candidate
- Minimum two years’ hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Intune, and SCCM in enterprise environments.
- Works collaboratively, shares knowledge, and contributes to a positive, solution-focused culture.
- Committed to delivering high-quality support and infrastructure solutions that benefit the Council and its residents.
- Engages respectfully with colleagues and stakeholders, maintaining a customer-first approach.
- Takes initiative, works independently, and resolves complex technical issues effectively.
- Holds a relevant IT certification (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate) and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving digital landscape.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
