Job Introduction

With a growing and diverse community, our commissioning team is responsible for developing and transforming a wide variety of quality services for our children and vulnerable adults, whilst also supporting the city’s housing needs. We are keen to build on the success of our recent city status.

We are ambitious and passionate about how commissioning makes a difference to the lives of our residents. In this leadership position you will play a key role in developing and delivering innovative commissioning across the city; working closely with partner organisations and managing a professional commissioning team.

Main Responsibility

  • Lead on an extensive and high-profile portfolio, including accountability for a commissioning budget spend of £39m per annum.
  • Develop and deliver service improvement and transformation within a complex and diverse geography.
  • Lead on challenging and innovative decisions to support the Council’s strategy and vision.
  • Work with partner organisations and agencies.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Someone with extensive commissioning experience who has already lead and developed complex commissioning projects.
  • Someone who can provide expert advice and reports to senior managers, elected members and NHS colleagues.
  • Someone with in depth knowledge and experience of commissioning and contracting approaches and funding mechanisms.
  • Someone passionate about transforming and developing care services for our community.
  • Someone who can develop networks across the health, social care (adults and young people), housing and wellbeing economy at both a local and regional level.
  • Someone who can lead and manage a professional commissioning team.
