HR Assistant Business Partner - Full Time or Part Time considered

Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity available within our HR Team as an Assistant HR Business Partner supporting the HRBP’s in delivering workforce strategies and plans across multiple Services. In this interesting and varied role, you will have the opportunity to get involved in creating and delivering HR solutions according to business need as well as supporting projects, implementing change, and coaching and advising managers. The role will be suitable for someone with experience in working in a large scale organisation. 

Main Responsibility

  • To advise and enable Service Directors, Heads of Service and Senior Managers on the professional aspects of HR including management of employees, HR policy and Procedure, legal implications, formal consultation which ensures that the Council has excellent management of its employees and strong employee relations. 
  • To project manage and advise Service Directors, Heads of Service and Senior Managers on all aspects of change management as it impacts on the terms and conditions, working practices, behaviours, and team structures to ensure the Council has the right workforce to deliver its services and minimises risks from change.
  • Establish and develop a trusted customer-focused relationship with Service Directors, Heads of Service and Senior Managers of the assigned business area to support the identification and delivery of service priorities, initiatives and agreed outcomes.  
  • In collaboration with the Learning and Development Team, oversee and monitor the effectiveness of HR programmes and initiatives to support the ability to attract, develop and retain high performing individuals and teams, making appropriate recommendations, which support the organisation to implement continuous improvement reflecting best practice sector trends.
  • To support the HR Business Partner in the delivery of a professional HR service that adds value and delivers effective business-focused solutions. 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent. CIPD qualified to current Level 7 and MCIPD or relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in an employee relations environment dealing with a variety of unions on complex issues which include restructuring and TUPE.
  • Good knowledge of Employment Law.
  • Experience of working in a unionised organisation.
  • Experience of working with senior managers in a large organisation.
