Job Introduction

Milton Keynes Fostering Service has an exciting opportunity to join their support team. Working with our team will be a challenging but rewarding experience, you will be joining a group of dedicated Social Work professionals and Business Support staff who work together to support and promote the welfare and best interests of our children and their careers.

We are looking for someone who has experience of working in finance, but full training and support will be provided. This is a site-based role of 30 hours per week with some flexibility for home working for a percentage of your hours.

You will work alongside our Social Work team ensuring our carers payments are managed efficiently. This will include completing annual financial assessments and ensuring that payments are correct, and our financial systems are updated.

Main Responsibility

  • To manage the payment processes and assessments for a variety of carers in line with DFE and HMRC regulations.
  • To ensure financial systems and records are updated. Ensuring rate changes are actioned and payments are started and ended in timescale.
  • To work collaboratively with the Social Work and Business Support Teams and Managers to ensure a professional support service is provided to our carers.
  • To take ownership of managing the payments processes and tracking all payments and assessments. Communicating with staff and families any changes to rates and processes.

The Ideal Candidate

  • AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience of working with complex financial systems.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to interact with a variety of staff and service users.
  • Excellent organisation and administration skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team ensuring all timescales are met.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and challenge when required.
