Job Introduction
We have a brilliant opportunity for an experienced teacher to work with local children and young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
You’ll lead on delivering targeted education whilst improving EHCP quality for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This role would be considered for home working, following an assessment. Home-based roles require a minimum of one day in the office/site per week. You will however be required to work within the community and support in schools and settings for the majority of the week.
Interviews for this role will be held on 28 November.

Main Responsibility
- You’ll work directly with pupils, plan and deliver evidence-based teaching, and support placement transitions.
- The role includes analysing progress data, writing effective outcomes, leading sessions for pupils with complex needs, and acting as an expert witness in tribunals.
- You’ll collaborate across services, support and deliver annual reviews, and contribute to the SEND Strategy through training and partnership work.
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualifications and experience
- Relevant teaching or postgraduate degree in SEND.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field.
- Knowledge and legislation
- Strong understanding of current SEND principles, procedures, and legislation including the SEN Code of Practice and Disability Discrimination Act.
- Leadership and organisation
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and motivate others to achieve challenging outcomes.
- Technical proficiency
- Advanced ICT skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, AI tools, and Capita ONE.
- Financial and data management
- Experience managing budgets and using data to inform service development.
- Teaching and evaluation
- Skilled in diverse teaching methods and capable of evaluating and improving teaching practices at both individual and team levels.
- Flexibility and safeguarding
- Adaptable to various working environments and hours, with a strong commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
- Communication
- High-quality written and verbal communication skills, particularly in producing EHCPs and learning journals.
- Resilience and adaptability
- Ability to remain flexible and resilient in a changing SEND landscape.
- Innovation and best practice
- Creative in implementing changes and identifying best practices locally and nationally.
- Driving Licence and Vehicle Insurance with Business Insurance
- For this role, the candidate is required to have a full UK driving licence, along with access to a vehicle.
- Evidence of the driving licence and vehicle insurance with business insurance will be required from the candidate should they be offered this position. Without this documentation the candidate will not be appointable.
- DBS Enhanced
- Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
