Job Introduction

We’re looking for an experienced social worker who is enthusiastic, motivated and has experience in managing social workers and social work assistants to join us as a Deputy Manager in our Reablement and Hospital Discharge Team.

This team supports Milton Keynes residents to have a smooth and safe discharge from both the hospital and community discharge service. We’re committed to supporting people to recover and maintain their independence following a period of illness or injury.

As a Deputy Manager you’ll be integral to the development of the team in meeting the demands of the service and will be key in implementing change to meet the increasing needs of the residents of Milton Keynes. The Reablement and Hospital Discharge Team has a base both in the community and the hospital and is a busy and fast paced team where every day is different.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys a challenge, has experience of hospital, multidisciplinary working and continuing health care. We pride ourselves on the established collaborative working relationship we have with our system partners across health and social care. This role requires you to have a social work degree or equivalent. You may be asked to travel so a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.

Main Responsibility

  • Supervising and supporting qualified social workers and social work assistants.
  • Managing and prioritising allocations.
  • Authorising and providing scrutiny of assessments.
  • Liaising with health professionals to minimise delayed discharges.
  • Managing the flow through all reablement and recuperation services.
  • Addressing HR issues.
  • Supporting colleagues within a multidisciplinary service. 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have a flexible approach.
  • You'll rotate between the Hospital and Civic Office as a base.
  • You may be required to work 1 in 10 weekends from 8:30 to 12:30, with a day off  during the week and payment for the hours worked.
  • Ability to manage resources.
  • Able to work with partner organisations.
