Job Introduction
The Sustainability team deals with a wide variety of contracts, such as the supply of energy to the Council and grant-funded work. Our main contracts by value are energy supply contracts which are worth in the region of £10m p.a. We are now looking for a candidate with experience in managing and setting up contracts to join us. As part of the role, you will liaise with both the suppliers and the council’s budget holders to ensure that this contract runs smoothly. As this role involves understanding and working with different contract types, formal training for personal development with a view to further formal qualifications would be considered.
Main Responsibility
- Managing contracts and liaising with our working partners will be a key part of the role.
- The post holder will be expected to develop and maintain their knowledge of contract types and identify any training required to maintain their competency.
- In the course of their duties, the post holder will be required to travel within Milton Keynes and further afield to attend seminars and meetings.
- Ability to work on your own initiative and motivation without full supervision.
The Ideal Candidate
- The post holder will have experience of a variety of commercial contracts and understand the importance of sound management of these.
- Due to the variety of contracts dealt with by the team, good communication skills and an ability to use IT in general is essential.
- A sound understanding of finances and good maths skills are essential.
- Clear written reports for a variety of audiences, internal and external, are important part of the role.
- Be able to maintain and create a good working relationship with all parties involved in the process.
