Job Introduction

A rewarding opportunity for a Level 2 Children and Family Practitioner to join our Practice Team.

The team plays a pivotal role in the delivery of Early Help to children and young people living in Milton Keynes. We’re seeking a practitioner to help families who have been identified as requiring targeted, early help support.

You’ll work with higher-need families, undertaking Early Help Assessments, and working with colleagues and external organisations to develop a ‘Team Around the Family’ which empowers the family in making positive changes. We do this in accordance with the statutory guidance Working Together to Safeguard Children.

Main Responsibility

  • Carry out assessments using approved tools and processes within specified timescales.
  • Considerable responsibility for supporting children with their families and you’ll be expected to take any steps necessary to safeguard children in accordance with local procedures and legislation.
  • Maintain accurate case records and provide high quality reports as required.
  • Attend regular supervisory meetings with CFP manager and/or a senior CFP Worker to monitor progress and identify development needs.
  • Work closely with other agencies and services in a co-operative way, sharing information and planning and delivering interventions together to meet the needs of the child and family holistically.
  • Deliver programmes to parents, individually and in groups, to improve their confidence and skills in managing their children’s behaviour.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant NQF qualification to L3 or equivalent experience.
  • Awareness of the legislative/regulatory framework within which the role operates.
  • Ability to analyse, summarise and write/record relevant information to a good level with an ability to use IT effectively.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-agency team, working co-operatively with other professionals and agencies to meet the needs of children and families.
  • Able to develop, implement and monitor robust support plans in medium risk/need cases.
  • Good verbal and communication skills.
  • For this role you are required to have a full UK driving licence. If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your licence prior to starting the role as well as providing evidence of your vehicle insurance with business use. This is required for any roles that requires the employee to travel to more than one place of work.
  • Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).
