Job Introduction

We’re looking for a sympathetic person with excellent people skills to join us as a Cemetery and Crematorium Officer.

You’ll join the city council team that provides burial and cremation services based at the Crownhill Crematorium and Cemetery office.

You’ll help the Senior Cemetery Manager to arrange burials and help families with services. You’ll also play a role in projects to increase the number of burial sites within Milton Keynes.

No experience for this role is necessary.

Main Responsibility

  • Attend burials in our cemeteries, smartly dressed and punctual.​
  • Be able to use our specialist database to record details in an accurate way and on a daily basis.
  • Visiting the cemeteries to inspect memorials/headstones and offer advice and guidance on safety.
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries via email.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have an understanding of bereavement and manage family’s expectations for their burial services.
  • Looking for someone who is punctual, smart and tidy when representing the Bereavement Services Team.
  • Holds a full clean driving licence to use a Council vehicle to drive to cemeteries.
  • Occasional cover weekend/Bank Holiday services.
  • Deal with all faiths and those with no faith. ​
  • Someone who is flexible in their role and working in all weathers outside, this could be lone working.
