Business Support Assistant

Job Introduction

A new opportunity for an experienced Business Support Assistant with excellent communication skills to join our Planning Service.

We’re looking for a committed, organised and enthusiastic individual to join our team. You’ll support our service development, support colleagues, and also work alongside stakeholders across the city council and externally.

This role is designed for a home worker, with the requirement to come into the office once a week. We provide a range of IT products that allow you to work from home effectively.

Main Responsibility

  • Undertake general administrative tasks efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
  • Coordinate responses to Freedom of Information requests.
  • Actively contribute to information systems offering a consistent service.
  • Processing purchase orders and sales invoices.
  • Supporting our Land Charges service during peak and holiday periods.
  • Working flexibly across the Directorate Actively participating in and leading projects

The Ideal Candidate

  • Level 3 Business Administration qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum one years’ experience of business support, including experience of working within complex, fast paced environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills which incorporate ability to take complex minutes, report writing and data analysis and presentation.
  • Good attention to detail on day-to-day activities
  • Excellent IT skills, with demonstrable competence in data analysis and presentation, excel, word, PowerPoint, and ability to quickly and confidently learn and utilise a variety of different IT systems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement to prioritise and manage workload appropriately. Good interpersonal, organisational and information management skills.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
