Job Introduction
With 11,000 properties under our belt and more being added to our portfolio, this is an exciting time to join our fast-growing and busy Property Services team. As our new Building Surveyor, working across departments will be second nature to you. You will be working alongside our Partnering Contractor, providing advice and support, driving performance and value for money. This role will cover areas such as Responsive Repairs, Voids, and Disrepair. You will find a mix of property and tenure types across several estates and catchment areas which you will help us maintain and improve.
We are looking for a candidate with a good understanding of building pathology backed with experience from a similar role, knowledge of Health and Safety within property, alongside experience of HHSR. The successful will also be able to take the lead and work collaboratively to support team members to help us maintain and improve our properties.
A DBS check and a driving licence will be required for this role as you will be working on a number of sites across Milton Keynes and at times with vulnerable people.
Main Responsibility
- To deliver a full range of building surveying duties across the Council’s Housing portfolio.
- To work with the Asset Manager and Repairs Manager to develop the Council’s strategy, policies and procedures to ensure properties meet the requirements of the residents.
- Undertaking stock condition surveys across the portfolio to confirm current condition and ensure issues identified are addressed in an appropriate time frame, with due consideration to budgets and HRA Business Plan
- Drive contractor performance on quality, cost & timeliness of works.
- Prepare detailed, technical reports to inform on options to support investment decisions.
- Take ownership and respond to enquiries, incidents, to reduce impact on residents and achieve desired outcomes of Milton Keynes Council.
